Product Description

The EVO 44 Magnum Ram is a replacement Autococker ram designed to give increased performance to the re cocking cycle of your Autococker. The EVO 44 Magnum Ram is made by Belsales LTD to their exacting standards of dimension, surface finish and assembly to provide a ram cycle far smoother and more energy efficient than a standard part. Further to this; the EVO 44 Magnum Ram provides two different orientations of inlet/outlet port on the free end on the Ram making it easier to set up and facilitating the attachment of "Quick Exhaust Valves" (QEV's).

The EVO 44 Magnum Ram comes fitted with two 10-32 UNF barbs and a single 10-32 UNF blanking plug in the unused port. The blanking plug can be used in either of the two free end ports (so long as an exhaust/fill attachment is fitted to the other) with no appreciable detriment to performance.

Prerequisites

The fitting of this part requires a MODERATE degree of competency in mechanical work. If you are unsure as to your skill level as an airsmith we recommend that you seek professional advice or services from a qualified airsmith.

Required tools and spare parts

To fit this part you will require some or all of the following tools:
  • Dentists pick or similar
  • 1/2" Spanner
  • Hot air gun / Paint stripper / blow torch or other "point" heating device
  • Vice and pliers or 2 X pliers with SOFT JAWS (Fibre / Plastic or other soft jaws )
  • 3/32" Allen key and 5mm spanner (only required if swapping blanking plug for fill nipple on free end of Ram)
  • Weak thread locking compound
  • Strong thread locking compound

Removal of Part

  • Fully de-gas the marker, including firing off MULTIPLE shots after the air source has been disconnected to make sure that the regulator has been FULLY depressurised.
  • Remove the bolt from your Autococker by pulling out the pull pin and extracting the bolt from the rear end.
  • Unscrew the cocking rod and extract from the rear end.
  • Pull the cocking block rearward and grip the pump rod gently while rotating the cocking block anti-clockwise in order to remove cocking block from pump rod.
  • Use a small pick to lever the hosing from the barbs on the old Ram. You may have to lever off the "top hats" on older models (small brass shrouds that clamp over the hosing fixing it onto the nipple).
  • Gently unscrew the old Ram from the semi-block with pump rod still attached.
  • Grip the old Ram shaft firmly with the soft jaw vice (or pliers). Use the blow torch or heat gun to loosen the thread lock compound that holds the ram to the pump rod.
  • Unscrew the Ram rod from pump rod taking great care not to damage either component.

Installation of Part

  • If you are planning on fitting QEV's to the Ram then before you start assembly of the Ram to the marker it is necessary to remove the barbs from the ram. Do this now if required.
  • Using the strong thread locking compound install the ram onto the pump rod, screwing the two together until fully inserted. Be very careful whilst gripping the Ram shaft not to score or damage the shaft in any way as this will lead to leaks developing from the ram and decrease performance significantly. The Ram should be secured to the pump rod HAND TIGHT only, do not use any tools!
  • Insert the ram and pump rod assembly into the semi-block by screwing the threaded ram collar (with a little weak thread lock compound) into the semi-block. Ensure that when the Ram is all the way retracted (shaft fully into chamber) that there is enough thread on the pump rod protruding from the back of the body to safely attach the back block.
  • Once the Ram is attached to the semi-block, extend the pump rod fully and screw on the back block. Rotate the back block one full turn clockwise at a time, after each revolution, return the Ram to the forward position to check the gap between the back block and the body. If there is still a gap then screw the back block onto the pump rod a further full turn. Repeat as required until the back-block JUST touches the body. Do not screw the back block all the way onto the pump rod unless it is required as explained above.
  • If QEV's are being installed, do that now (see Q.E.V instructions).
  • Attach the hosing from the three-way (or solenoid) to the correct Ram nipples. If using a low pressure setup then "top hats" are not required. On older, higher pressure cocking system, securing "top hats" may be required.
  • Insert cocking rod (do not use thread lock compound).
  • Insert Bolt and securing pin.
  • Check that marker cocks and fires by hand.
  • Check all fittings and fixings before gassing up the marker.
  • Gently gas up the marker, pointing it in a safe direction.

Notes

Be very careful not to damage the shaft of the Ram during installation. Damage to the ram shaft will cause leaks and poor performance. This is not covered by any warranty.

Be careful not to overheat the ram shaft if removing thread lock compound. The Ram contains some precision fit O rings and seals that if damaged by heat may cause leaks and poor performance. This is not covered by any warranty.

Product Description

The EVO Low Pressure Regulator (LPR) for Autocockers is a highly efficient front mounted, low pressure regulator designed to provide an enhanced flow and more stable output to the cocking system for almost all Autocockers.

Prerequisites

The fitting of this part requires a MODERATE degree of competency in mechanical work. We recommend that you seek professional advice or services from a qualified airsmith.

Required tools and spare parts

  • Dentist's pick
  • Soft jawed needle nosed pliers
  • 1/2" spanner / wrench (Open ended)
  • Medium strength thread lock / PTFE Tape

Removal of Part

  • Fully de-gas the marker, including firing off MULTIPLE shots after the air source has been disconnected to make sure that the regulator has been FULLY depressurised.
  • Use the required tools to remove the low pressure hosing from the existing LPR
  • Use the required tools to unscrew the existing LPR from the semi block of the Autococker

Installation of Part

  • First check the clearance of any auxiliary parts that may cause an obstruction for the installation of the LPR. If there are any components that may cause an issue during installation, please remove them first. This might include; solenoid housing on an E1 or E2 frame, 3 way assembly or other component
  • Apply a small amount of medium strength thread lock compound or PTFE tape to the threads of the LPR
  • Use a 1/2" spanner to insert the LPR into the semi block. Tighten the LPR sufficiently that there is no "slack", but not so tight that it requires excessive force to continue insertion. If you are at all unsure, contact a trained airsmith. Ensure during insertion that the barb for the low pressure hosing is orientated so that it points to approximately 11 O'clock if you were looking at the marker from down the end of that barrel.
  • Attach the hosing from the 3 way (or solenoid) input to the LPR using the needle nosed pliers.

Notes

This part should be installed by a qualified airsmith. If you are attempting to install it yourself please take care. Make sure of the following important item:

YOU MUST FULLY DE-GAS YOUR MARKER BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY WORK ON THE ITEM. BE AWARE THAT THE MARKER WILL STILL STORE PRESSURE ON THE MARKER SIDE OF THE REGULATOR EVEN ONCE AN AIR BOTTLE HAS BEEN REMOVED. ONCE REMOVING THE AIR BOTTLE, BE SURE TO FIRE THE MARKER UNTIL NO MOVEMENT OCCURS FROM THE MARKER.

Product Description

The DART Quick Exhaust Valve (Q.E.V) is a diaphragm operated tri-directional hosing elbow capable of being used in a number of applications. The elbow is sensitive to flow direction, switching the resulting direction of flow depending on the input direction. It is used most commonly in applications where performance increases can be made by exhausting a chamber as fast as possible. By truncating the exhaust channel (the air may exhaust at the elbow, negating the requirement for it to back flow along small bore hosing) removes the distance that air must flow in order to be fully exhausted, thus removing the length and severity of obstructions.

The Q.E.V is male threaded 10/32" on one end, and on the other end of the 90 degree fitting, there is a nipple designed to take 1/8" External Diameter low pressure hosing. The Q.E.V had been used to excellent effect on a number of paintball markers. Most commonly QEV's are used on 44 Magnum Rams.

  • Q Tip and solvent / cleaning solution
  • 10mm size Spanner (For attachment of Q.E.V)
  • 5mm sized Spanner (For removal of nipple)
  • Weak thread locking compound

Removal of Part

  • If the Q.E.V is being used to replace a single nipple, carefully remove the current nipple with the 5mm spanner. If much resistance is met, DO NOT FORCE. There is a danger of rounding off the flat on a barb fitting as the metal is often quite soft. Instead, use a blow torch or heat gun to loosen the thread locking compound used to seal the barb. BE CAREFUL OF ANY SURROUNDING PLASTIC PARTS OR O RINGS when heating the barb.
  • Clean out the threaded hole into which the Q.E.V will be inserted. Be sure to remove any old thread lock compound, grease, oil etc using a solvent and a Q tip.

Installation of Part

  • Pour out a small amount of thread lock compound onto a disposable non-absorbent surface (such as some kitchen foil). Using the fine end of a pick or a needle, place a TINY amount of compound in a single stripe down an edge of the threads. Rotate the threads 180 degrees and add another TINY stripe.
  • Using the 10mm spanner, GENTLY screw the Q.E.V into position and the correct orientation. BEWARE that the threads are very small and consequently not very strong. Any attempt to over tighten the Q.E.V will result in stripping the threads, or more likely, the Q.E.V snapping and becoming irreparably damaged. If correct sealing methods are used then the parts need not be tightened hard.
  • Wait the specified curing time for the thread seal compound to set.
  • Push hosing onto barbed end of Q.E.V using soft jawed pliers

Notes

Be very careful when screwing in QEV's as the item is small and too much leverage (for example using a long spanner) can easily break them.

THE "REX" VELOCITY ADJUSTER KIT

CONGRATULATIONS ON PURCHASING THE "REX" WORM-DRIVE VELOCITY ADJUSTER KIT FOR THE AUTOCOCKER, THIS QUALITY PRODUCT WILL BRING YOU MANY BENEFITS:

1/ YOU CAN ADJUST THE VELOCITY OF YOUR GUN WITHOUT REMOVING THE COCKING ROD, ALTHOUGH YOU MUST REMOVE THE ALLEN WRENCH WHILST TEST-FIRING.

2/ UTILISES A LIGHT SPRING SYSTEM FOR SMOOTH COCKING ACTION (ALSO MEANS THE COCKING PRESSURE CAN BE REDUCED TO GIVE ENHANCED OPERATION).

3/ TOP ADJUSTER COMPATIBLE FOR EASE OF TIMING ADJUSTMENTS (ON OLDER GUNS IT NEEDS ONE HOLE TO BE DRILLED IN BODY)

INSTALLATION

WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU HAVE YOUR "REX" KIT INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL AIRSMITH, HOWEVER, IF YOU WISH TO FIT IT YOURSELF THERE ARE A FEW POINTS TO BE AWARE OF:

A/ SIMPLY DROP IN YOUR NEW REX HAMMER THEN THE MAINSPRING FOLLOWED BY THE REX ADJUSTER. YOU WILL NOTE THAT ON OLDER GUNS THIS PRECEDURE IS EASY BUT SINCE THE ADVENT OF BODIES WITH THREADED LOWER BORES IT IS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT. IF YOU HAVE THE LATER YOU WILL HAVE TO DRILL OUT THE REAR MOST THREADS (PREVIOUSLY USED TO ATTACH YOUR BEAVERTAIL TOO) WITH A 3/16 INCH DRILL AND USE THE SCREW AND WASHER PROVIDED TO ATTACH YOUR BEAVERTAIL (PUTTING THE SCREW RIGHT THROUGH THE BEAVERTAIL THE THREAD YOU'VE JUST REMOVED AND INTO THE THREAD OF THE REX ADJUSTER) THEN CLAMP IT TIGHTLY TOGETHER.

(NB PLEASE BE CAREFUL TO DRILL OUT THE CORRECT THREADED HOLE AS THEY LOOK THE SAME, IT IS THE REAR MOST ONE YOU ARE AFTER)

B/ TRY TO USE THE LIGHTER OF THE THREE SPRINGS SUPPLIED IF POSSIBLE.

C/ ALWAYS USE YOUR GUN WITH EITHER A REGULATED CO2 SYSTEM,A DOUBLE-REGULATED AIR/N2 SYSTEM OR A BALANCED AIR SYSTEM. THE RECOMMENDED INPUT PRESSURE TO THE GUN IS DEPENDENT ON YOUR PREFERRED SET-UP BUT GENERALLY IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 200 AND 350 PSI. FAILURE TO USE A REGULATED SYSTEM OR THE WRONG PRESSURE WILL RESULT IN EXTREME VELOCITY SWINGS.

D/ TO ACCESS THE VELOCITY ADJUSTING SCREW A HOLE NEEDS TO BE DRILLED IN THE REAR BLOCK, AGAIN WE RECOMMEND THIS IS DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL. THE SIZE AND POSITION OF THE HOLE IS AS FOLLOWS:

USE/MAINTENANCE

TO INCREASE VELOCITY INSERT A 3/32 INCH ALLEN WRENCH IN THE ADJUSTER SCREW AND TURN ANTI-CLOCKWISE, TO DECREASE TURN CLOCKWISE.

************PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE REVERSE OF A STANDARD GUN************

LUBRICATE OCCAISIONALLY BY SMEARING A LITTLE VASELINE ON THE WORM SCREW AND  SPRING FOLLOWER, WHEN REASSEMBLING PUT THE WORM AND FOLLOWER IN TOGETHER WITH THE FOLLOWER OVERLAPPING THE WORM O-RING.

WARNING- IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL THE FOLLOWER WITH THE WORM IN POSITION AND DIAL THE FOLLOWER ONTO THE WORM THE WORM O-RING WILL BE DAMAGED.

THIS O-RING IS A FRICTION DEVICE TO PREVENT VIBRATION AFFECTING THE VELOCITY ADJUSTMENT, IF IT NEEDS REPLACING AND YOU CANNOT GET A SPARE THEN AN AUTOCOCKER 3-WAY SHAFT O-RING WILL WORK.
